About Castle Hills/Hill Country Village/Shavano Park
Within Bexar County, Hill Country Village, Shavano Park and Castle Hills real estate is located north of San Antonio. In somewhat of a triangular formation between Interstates 10, 37 and 410 and Highway 16, the communities are enclaves or territories whose geographical boundaries are entirely within San Antonio. Castle Hills is located on the southern end of the Northwest Military Highway. It is a city of approximately 4,202 residents and many Castle Hills homes for sale are single-family residences situated on large lots. Several were built in the early 1950s and ranch-style architecture is predominant in this area. Castle Hills contains many retail establishments, mainly along Military Highway.
The subdivision of Hill Country Village has a population of 1,028 and many of the residences here are high-end homes. Many were built in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The homes have acreage and many have accommodations for horses as many residents enjoy horseback riding. Hill Country Village real estate is highly desirable and the homes often have features such as three car garages, game rooms, studies, covered porches with summer kitchens and formal dining rooms.
Shavano Park has a population of 3035 and homes located in this city are on the edge of Texas Hill County, approximately 12 miles from downtown San Antonio. Originally Shavano Park real estate was part of the Stowers Ranch. The town was established in 1881 and was a stagecoach stop between the cities of San Antonio and Boerne. Shavano Park is served by the VIA Metropolitan Transit.
Private communities within Shavano Park include Garden Villas at Bentley Manor, Willow Wood and Huntington. Huntington has elite home sites that include acreage and are available through custom homebuilders known for their luxury designs. Willow Wood is a gated community on 49 acres with 93 opulent homes and is within walking distance of the Shavano Park Tennis Club. Garden Villas are Mediterranean-style garden homes within Shavano Park.
Shavano Park, Castle Hills and Hill Country Village are located in the North East Independent School District. There are a number of elementary, middle and high schools within this district that serve these communities. The areas also include many private schools. With the proximity to San Antonio, there are many recreational opportunities including museums, water parks, shopping, fishing, boating and a variety of restaurants.
