If you’re thinking about buying a home, there are a few questions to ask yourself before making the decision.

Think about your source of income. Is it steady and stable? Have you been with this employer for a few years? Is it temporary? Your income should be consistent before buying a home.

What’s your history with bills and payments? Do you pay things on time? Have you been reported to credit agencies? What’s your credit score? Are you in good standing with your credit?

Have you been in debt? What else are you paying off? Do you have a car or furniture payments?1.1 pullquote

Are you able to make a down payment? Do you have savings stored away for this expense specifically? If you’re a veteran, military loans don’t require any down payment. However, FHA loans require 3.5% down and conventional requires 5% down. Plus, there are other factors that influence a minimum down payment.

Loan officers examine all these aspects when you apply for a loan. If you have any questions about down payments or more, reach out to us. We’re happy to talk over the phone, by email, or in person!
