Bulverde Real Estate

Bulverde real estate is part of an area of Texas that has a history dating to the beginning of the state. Located at the crossroads of the Pinta and Musebach Trails, the town was founded in 1850 and was a center for entertainment and a resting place for early settlers as they traveled to other areas including Fredericksburg. Bulverde has a population of 3,761 and is a part of the San Antonio metropolitan statistical area. The area around Bulverde used to be mainly huge ranches. Bulverde homes for sale today are largely a result of the subdivisions of these ranches.

During the 1970s the ranches began to be subdivided and neighborhoods such as Oak Village North and Bulverde Hills were formed. This beginning led to more subdivisions and by the 2000s, this area was considered to be a suburb of San Antonio. The last ranch sold to develop a master planned community was Johnson Ranch. The older residential areas that were developed utilized septic systems and wells, which are considered environmentally friendly.

Although many descendents of the early settlers of Bulverde remained in the area until the 1970s, once Canyon Lake was developed and Interstate 35 was constructed, Bulverde real estate was purchased by many newcomers to the area. This resulted in major changes for the city. However, it has retained much of the charm and rustic appeal that has been a part of this town since its founding. There are many restaurants and shops, especially in the downtown area.

The Bulverde Emporium is one of the shops in the downtown area and offers a collection of antiques including candles, quilts, toys, old prints and lithographs, books and china. The restaurants in this area provide a variety of cuisine. From Mexican, Chinese and barbecue to cafes, steak houses and wine and coffee bars, something for everyone can be found.

Residents of Bulverde are served by the Comal Independent School District. Smithson Valley High School is well known for its excellent academic programs as well as athletic departments. The high school sports teams consistently compete for rankings in state championships.
