The town was named for Pipe Creek, which is nearby. In the 1880s the area was mainly agricultural. Farmers raised cattle, sheep, corn and cotton. Pipe Creek flourished in the 1950s and 1960s and the population increased to 220. Pipe Creek real estate thrived as well and more than twenty-five subdivisions were built in the area.
Today, Pipe Creek real estate consists of a single-family homes, lots and land and farms. Commercial property on State Highway 16 and Alamo Beach Road is an option.
